Abstract

The invention relates to an operating element () for an electrically controlled machine (), having an operating element body () and a rotating wheel () for inputting a command into a controller () of the machine (), wherein the rotating wheel () is arranged on the operating element body () in a rotatable manner about a rotational axis () and is surrounded by a lateral surface () that has local diameter mean value () specified in the perpendicular direction to the rotational axis (), on which lateral surface () the rotating wheel () may be gripped and rotated by a machine operator (), wherein the lateral surface () of the rotating wheel () has at least two actuation portions () with different surface structures (), wherein a sensor region () of a sensor element () is associated with at least one of the actuation portions (), and wherein different machine functions for inputting at least one command into the controller () are associated with at least one of the actuation portions (), and wherein the at least two actuation portions () are arranged on the lateral surface () of the rotating wheel () in such a way that the machine operator () may grip them with a hand () and/or fingers of the hand.
