Abstract
Various communication systems may benefit from an improved signaling protocol. For example, an application layer traffic optimization protocol or an over-the-top protocol may benefit from improved signaling in dealing with unattended data. A method, in certain embodiments, may include sending congestion information of a first access point as part of the application layer traffic optimization from a network entity to a user equipment. The congestion information can comprise a first congestion level relating to a first radio interface message value at the first access point and a second congestion level relating to a second radio interface message value at the first access point. In addition, the user equipment may be configured to determine a current level of congestion at the first value, the second congestion level, and the second radio interface messaging value.
