Abstract

A chest compression device for cardiopulmonary resuscitation comprises a support structurefor placement about a patient's chest and for holding a chest compressorabove a patient's sternum; a chest compressormounted on the support structure; and lateral chest supportsattached to the support structureat points laterally either side of the chest when the device is in use, such that the lateral chest supportswill apply lateral pressure to the sides of the chest synchronized with a chest compression by the chest compressor
