Abstract

A magnetic sensor includes a sensor chipincluding an element-forming surfaceprovided with a magnetism detection elements MR-MR, a magnetic memberincluding a first side surfacefacing the element-forming surface, and a circuit boardincluding a mounting surfaceon which the sensor chipand the magnetic memberare mounted. The sensor chipand the magnetic memberare mounted on the circuit board such that the element-forming surfaceand the first side surfaceare substantially orthogonal to the mounting surfaceof the circuit board. Because the sensor chipand the magnetic memberare mounted on the circuit boardin a horizontal state, the magnetic membercan be supported in a stable manner even when the length of the magnetic memberis large.
