Abstract

A rechargeable battery according to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode including a first electrode plate, a plurality of first electrode uncoated regions protruded from the first electrode plate, a base member, and a coupled member formed at at least one lateral side of the base member, a separator overlapping the first electrode, and a second electrode including a second electrode plate overlapping the separator, a plurality of second electrode uncoated regions protruded from the second electrode plate, a base member, and a coupled member formed at at least one lateral side of the base member, wherein a ratio of a thickness (T*2) of one of the coupled members to a thickness (T) of one of the base members is between about 3 and about 6.
