Abstract

A color generation deviceaccording to the present invention has a light source, and also has a linear polarizing means, a first birefringence mediumand a second birefringence mediumattached to each other in sequence in front of the light source. A display meansis provided which is distanced from the linear polarizing means, the first birefringence mediumand a second birefringence medium. The first birefringence meansis arranged for the principal axes thereof to be at angle of 45° or −45° with respect to the polarization direction aof the linear polarizing meansand the second birefringence mediumis arranged for the principal axes thereof to be the same as or perpendicular to polarization direction aof the linear polarizing meansand quarter wave plate is used therefor.
