Abstract

The examples of the present application provide a positive electrode material and a lithium-ion battery. The positive electrode material comprises: a substrate material; and a coating material formed on at least one part of a surface of the substrate material; the general formula of the substrate material being LiCoMO, wherein 1.0≤x≤1.2, 0.8≤y≤1.0 and M is at least one selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ti, Al, Zr, Ni, Mn; the coating material includes YOand at least two selected from the group consisting of LaO, ZrOand CeO. The examples of the present application enable the battery prepared by the provided positive electrode material to have a lower storage expansion ratio, a higher capacity retention ratio, and improved cycle performance at a high charge cutoff voltage by the interaction of at least three kinds of oxides.
