Abstract
This invention relates to a semi-batch process for preparing low viscosity polyoxyalkylene polyether polyols (P) that have a narrow molecular weight distribution. This process comprises reacting a H-functional starter substance (S), a H-functional starter substance (S) and a H-functional starter substance (S) with one or more alkylene oxides in the presence of a double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst. The resultant polyoxyalkylene polyols (P) have a functionality of 2 to 8 and a hydroxyl number of 5 to 35 mg KOH/g polyol. In addition, the polyoxyalkylation can be completed with a low continuous addition of starter (CAOS) cap.
