Abstract

An exhaust gas receiveris provided between an expanded passage portionof an upstream connection memberand a catalyst end surface. The exhaust gas receiverextends along the entire circumference of a catalyst accommodation case. The exhaust gas receiverextends from an upstream opening end portionof the catalyst accommodation casetoward an inner part of the passage of the expanded passage portionsuch that the exhaust gas receiverseparates from the expanded passage portion, and a spaceis defined between the exhaust gas receiverand the catalyst end surface. Flows of bypass exhaust gas hitting against the catalyst end surfaceand bouncing off the catalyst end surfacehit against and are received by the exhaust gas receiver
