Abstract

The invention relates to a cultivated plant of the speciesvar.(watermelon) producing fruits with high texture fruit flesh, wherein the plant optionally is a diploid, triploid or tetraploid plant. In one aspect, the plant of the invention comprises one or more mutations in the C1MBP 17_2 allele encoding a mutant C1MBP 17_2 protein or encoding lower levels of wild type C1MPBP 17_2 protein compared to wild type plants.
