Abstract

A wide angle image to be displayed on a screen fixed on the head or the face of a user is processed. When a display view angle reaches a boundary of an original wide angle image, an indicatorindicating reaching the boundary is added to a free viewpoint image. The indicatoris a part of the free viewpoint imagewhich is in contact with a boundaryof the wide angle imageor protrudes from the boundaryand is displayed as a black-painted frame. By observing such the indicator, the user can intuitively understand that the display area reaches the limit of the wide angle image.
