Abstract
The invention relates to a method for determining a parking area () for parking a motor vehicle (), in which the motor vehicle () is moved relative to a potential parking space (), a road marking () and at least one object () delimiting the potential parking space () are recognized on the basis of sensor data of at least one sensor () of the motor vehicle () during the movement of the motor vehicle () relative to the potential parking space (), and the parking area () within the potential parking space () is determined on the basis of the recognized road marking () and the at least one object (), wherein an orientation for the parking area () is determined on the basis of the road marking (), an orientation of the at least one object () is determined, and the parking area () is determined in dependence on a comparison between the determined orientation for the parking area () and the determined orientation of the at least one object ().
