Abstract
A display device includes: a display panel including an insulating substrate, a first electrode disposed on the insulating substrate, and a second electrode disposed on the insulating substrate and disposed to be insulated from the first electrode; a liquid crystal layer disposed on the display panel; and an alignment-inducing layer disposed between the display panel and the liquid crystal layer, wherein the alignment-inducing layer includes a compound having a structure represented by Chemical Formula 1-A: In Chemical Formula 1-A above, Ris a hydrophilic group, Ris a hydrogen atom, and A is an alkylene group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkyleneoxy group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or a single bond.
