A piston head for a syringe pump comprises a barrier portion () for driving fluid through a syringe pump barrel (), wherein a peripheral section () of the barrier portion () is shaped to seal against the syringe pump barrel (); and a re-silent member () arranged to resist deformation of the shaped peripheral section () of the barrier portion ().
