Abstract

A device and method for repairing a mitral valve leaflet. The deviceincludes a bodyhaving an annular walland at least one aperturethrough the annular wall. A deployment assemblymounted on the body includes at least one grasping wirearranged for sliding movement in the aperture. Movement of the deployment assemblyto a deployed position relative to the body causes a free end of the grasping wireto project out from the annular wallthrough the aperture, and movement of the deployment assembly to a retracted position relative to the body causes the free end of the grasping wireto not project out from the annular wall. In the deployed position, the grasping wiremay grasp and gather tissue of the leaflet
