Abstract

A ready-to-use urinary catheter assembly () includes a catheter () comprising a shaft () having a proximal insertion end () and a distal end () spaced from the proximal insertion end. The assembly also includes a protective sleeve () including a protective sleeve tip () being configured to cover the proximal insertion end of the catheter shaft as the proximal insertion end of the catheter shaft is inserted into a distal portion of the urethra. The proximal insertion end () of the catheter shaft () is advanced proximally to rupture the protective sleeve tip () and to be advanced through the remainder of the urethra.
