Abstract
A light illuminating apparatus for irradiating light of a line shape extending in a first direction and having a predetermined line width in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, includes a light emitting unit including a substrate, and a plurality of light sources arranged at a predetermined interval along the first direction on the substrate such that an optical axis is matched to a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, and a mirror unit having a mirror surface to reflect and focus the light. In a cross section of the mirror unit taken along a plane defined by the second direction and the third direction, a cross-sectional shape of the mirror surface is a curved shape resulting from rotation of each of a horizontal axis direction positive side part and a horizontal axis direction negative side part of a parabola y=ax.
