Abstract
A back light () is provided with: a back chassis () that has a bottom plate () in which a plurality of through-holes () are formed; a substrate () that has a surface on which a plurality of LEDs () are mounted and that is held by the bottom plate () outside a casing () so that the optical axes of the LEDs () overlap the respective through-holes (); and a light transmissive plate-like member () that is superimposed on the bottom plate () from the inside of the casing () so as to close the through-holes (). Thus, provided is an illumination apparatus () in which temperature increase inside the casing () is suppressed.
