Provided are a projection type display device, a projection control method, and a non-transitory recording medium readable by a computer for recording a projection control program capable of smoothly changing shapes of projection ranges of image light. A projection type display deviceincludes: projection unitsandthat project image light to a projection surfacea drive mechanismfor controlling a position, on the projection surface, of a projection range of the image light projected by the projection unitand a controllerthat controls the drive mechanismand changes a length, in one direction, of a range obtained by combining projection ranges of the image light projected by the respective projection unitsandand a length, in a direction orthogonal to the one direction, of the range, respectively.
