Abstract

A prosthetic glenoid component () comprising a concave external bearing surface (), a glenoid-contacting surface () opposite to the bearing surface, and a plurality of fixation elements () protruding from said glenoid-contacting surface () oppositely to said bearing surface () for location into a peripheral portion () of a glenoid cavity () to secure the component to the scapula (), wherein a central portion () of the glenoid-contacting surface () is free of fixation elements so as to preserve the integrity of the glenoid vault.
