Abstract
A measuring device () for measuring the space remaining after a side crash has a pneumatic piston rod cylinder () with a cylinder (), and a piston rod () that can move relative to the cylinder (). A measuring unit () measures the movement () of the piston rod () relative to the cylinder (), and a base part () positions the piston rod cylinder (). The piston rod cylinder () can be connected to a pressure vessel () to permit the piston rod () to move out when a fluid is applied to the piston rod cylinder ().
