Abstract
An electrochemical cell includes a high voltage cathode configured to operate at 1.5 volts or greater, an anode including Mg, and an electrolyte including an at least one organic solvent, at least one magnesium salt, and at least one additive agent including a Lewis base, wherein the electrolyte is halogen-free.
