Abstract

The present invention relates to a surface treatment method for lithium cobalt oxide, comprising the steps of: (S1) mixing lithium cobalt oxide and an organic phosphoric acid compound; and (S2) heat treating and calcining the mixture prepared in step (S1). The surface treatment method of the present invention is simpler and has higher reproducibility than a conventional surface coating and doping technique, and can improve electrochemical characteristics by reinforcing the structural stability of lithium cobalt oxide. In addition, LiCoOprepared by the surface treatment method of the present invention is structurally stable during charging/discharging and does not cause unnecessary phase transition, and thus has excellent lifetime characteristics.
