Abstract

A rotary actuator () is provided with a linear activation mechanism () that causes a pinion () to rotate, and a cylinder body () in which a cylinder hole () is formed. The linear activation mechanism () comprises a rack () on which a plurality of teeth () that mesh with the pinion () are provided, and pistons (). The pistons () are each provided with a piston main body () that has a shape corresponding to that of the cylinder hole (). Each of the piston main bodies () comprises a body () and an extension section (). The ends of the rack () are connected to the extension sections () of the set of pistons (), and a space () shielded from the cylinder hole () is formed between the bodies () of the set of pistons (). The linear activation mechanism () is also configured similarly.
