Abstract

A heat exchanger that includes a membrane of graphene oxide is disclosed, as is a heat exchange system employing such a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger permits the use of water from non-traditional sources, such as waste water, brackish and sea water, in a cooling loop. Clean water and sensible heat permeate through the membrane, simultaneously cooling and purifying water in the cooling loop.
