Abstract
A technique for enforcing uniqueness of property-value pairs in a schemaless data store includes receiving a request to uniquely store a property-value pair PVin a first collection of the data store. In response to receiving the request, a property-value pair PVis constructed that includes (a) a property on which the data store enforces uniqueness in a second collection of the data store and (b) a corresponding value that provides a formatted version of PV. The technique includes performing a store-if-unique operation configured to (i) generate a failing result in response to PValready existing in the second collection and (ii) store PVin the second collection in response to PVnot already existing in the second collection. If the store-if-unique operation fails, the request to store PVin the first collection is denied; otherwise, the request is granted.
