Abstract

The invention relates to a method for switching off a multi-phase electric machine () in a motor vehicle, the multi-phase electric machine () comprising a rotor having a rotor winding () and a stator having a multi-phase stator winding (), wherein in a block mode () of the electric machine () a parameter influencing a synchronous generated voltage vector (U) of a synchronous generated voltage is adjusted such that the synchronous generated voltage reaches a first threshold value (S), wherein the block mode () is deactivated when the first threshold value (S) is reached and a PWM mode () for applying a phase voltage with a phase voltage vector (U) is activated, wherein the phase voltage vector (U) and the synchronous generated voltage vector (U) are varied in PWM mode () until the parameter influencing the synchronous generated voltage reaches a further threshold value (S), wherein the phase voltage is switched off when the further threshold value (S) is reached. Furthermore, the invention relates to a computing unit () configured to carry out the method.
