Abstract

The present invention relates to an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7 as well as to the use of a stabilizer for the preparation of an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7. In particular, the present invention relates to an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7 comprising (i) one or more polymerizable compounds having at least one polymerizable double bond; (ii) a polymerization initiator system containing a) an 1,2-diketone photoinitiator compound having a light absorption maximum in the range from 300 to 500 nm; and b) a coinitiator compound; (iii) a stabilizer of the following formula (I) and/or (II), wherein the Rs, which may be the same or different, independently represent a branched Calkyl or alkenyl group, or a Ccycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group, R' represents a hydrogen atom, a Calkyl or Calkenyl group, or a Cfluoroalkyl or Cfluoroalkenyl group, X represents a group selected from a Calkyl group or a Ccycloalkyl group, and n is 0, 1 or 2; and a solvent mixture comprising an organic solvent and at least 1 percent by weight of water based on the total weight of the aqueous dental composition.
