Abstract
An exterior mirror () on a vehicle door () of a motor vehicle has a mirror foot () with a retaining portion () for securing the mirror foot () on the vehicle door (). The vehicle door () has a door outer part (), a door inner part () and a door well () between the outer and inner parts (). The door well () has a receiving opening () in the region of a door windowsill (). The mirror foot () is angled to form the retaining portion () and the retaining portion () is inserted into the door well () through the receiving opening () and fixed within the door well ().
