Abstract

An injection device () for injection of a medicament from a pre-filled container () having a container body () for containing the medicament, a needle () disposed at a distal end of the container body (), a removable needle shield () and a stopper () for expelling medicament from the container (), the device comprising a housing () for housing the container (), a plunger () for driving the stopper () of the container () in a distal direction to expel the medicament, and a priming mechanism having an operating member () which is movable with respect to the housing (). The priming mechanism is arranged to release the needle shield () from the needle () and to move the container body () in a proximal direction with respect to the plunger () upon movement of the operating member () from a first position to a second position during an operating sequence of the device.
