Abstract

Scenes captured with an endoscope () of a teleoperated surgical system () and displayed on a display unit () maintain a consistent brightness even though optical output power of an illuminator () changes, and working distance () between tissue () and the distal tip of the endoscope changes. Teleoperated surgical system () also automatically detects when endoscope () contacts tissue () and adjusts the output optical power of illuminator () so that tissue damage does not occur.
