Abstract

A patient monitor for monitoring a patient includes a sensor interface (), a communication interface (), a user interface (), and a patient identification unit () for identifying the patient to be monitored. A processor () processes obtained sensor signals, received information and/or user input to obtain patient-related data, and a controller () controls said communication interface () to retrieve patient context information including information related to the patient, once the patient has been identified by the patient identification unit (), available in a central administration system () from said central administration system () and/or other patient monitors (-) and controls said processor () to take received patient context information into account in the processing to obtain patient-related data.
