Abstract

A fiber-reinforced device, such as an inflatable medical balloon, includes a cylindrical central portion (). The balloon includes first and second tapered or conical end portions () connected to the cylindrical central portion along a central longitudinal axis extending from a first end of the balloon to a second end of the balloon. In one embodiment, the balloon includes a single continuous fiber () running substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis along the central portion and radially around a portion of the end portions, or both. The balloon comprises a second fiber () extending radially around the central portion of the balloon, which may be part of the single continuous fiber. Related methods are described.
