Abstract
A mixed flow turbine wheel () for a turbocharger includes a hub () extending axially between a nose () and a partial back wall () defining an axis of rotation in the axial direction. The partial back wall () extends circumferentially from the hub () to an outer peripheral edge (). A plurality of turbine blades () are coupled to the hub () and extended beyond the peripheral edge (). The blades () are spaced circumferentially about the hub () at equal intervals around the axis of rotation. At least one scallop cut () is formed in the peripheral edge () at the partial back wall () for balancing the turbine wheel () about the axis rotation.
