Abstract

A water pump has a pump housing () having therein a pump chamber (); a drive shaft () rotatably supported in the pump housing (); a pulley () having a flange wall () fixed to one end portion of the drive shaft (), the pulley () being formed integrally with the drive shaft () with synthetic resin material containing glass fiber material (); and an impeller () secured to the other end portion of the drive shaft () so as to be able to rotate integrally with the drive shaft (), the impeller () being accommodated in the pump chamber (). Six penetration holes () are formed at the flange wall (), and the glass fiber material () existing around the penetration hole () is oriented at random. With this, decrease in strength of the pulley () can be suppressed.
