Abstract

The present invention provides a method for producing a 2-aminonicotinic acid benzyl ester derivative. The method includes, as a step, reacting a 2-aminonicotinic acid derivative represented by the formula [I], wherein Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a Cto Calkyl group and M represents an alkali metal, with a benzyl derivative represented by the formula [II], wherein Rrepresents, for example, a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, A represents, for example, a nitrogen atom, X represents a halogen atom, and Y represents, for example, an oxygen atom, in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst or a tertiary amine.
