Abstract

The present invention relates to a catalyst composition and a process for the oligomerization of ethylene to produce 1-hexene or 1-octene, wherein the catalyst composition comprises a chromium compound; an NPNPN ligand of the formula (R) (R)N—P(R)—N(R)—P(R)—N(R)(R), wherein R, R, R, R, R, Rand Rare each independently hydrogen, halogen, amino, trimethylsilyl or C-Chydrocarbyl, preferably straight-chain or branched C-Calkyl, phenyl, C-Caryl or C-Calkyl-substituted phenyl.
