Abstract

An image processing apparatus obtains a first image and a second image obtained by imaging an object under different conditions, obtains a region of interest in the first image, obtains a first deformation displacement field between the first image and the second image, approximates the first deformation displacement field in the region of interest using an approximation transformation model of a degree of freedom lower than that of the first deformation displacement field, thereby generating an approximated displacement field, generates, concerning the region of interest, corresponding information between the first image and an image obtained by displacing the first image based on the approximated displacement field, and obtains a second deformation displacement field between the first image and the second image using the corresponding information.
