Abstract

A switch (), particularly a disconnecting switch () for high direct currents and alternating currents at high voltages, can be transferred from a conducting position into a disconnecting position. The switch () is includes a housing (), a first contact (), a second contact (), a switching piston () guided by the housing () with a connecting element (), which establishes an electrical connection in the connecting position between the first contact () and the second contact (). The housing () defines an interior space surrounding the connecting element (). The connecting element () extends at least partially in the interior space () and is filled with an insulating medium (), and the switch is designed such that a mechanical movement of the switching piston () transfers the switch () from the connecting position into the disconnecting position. The switching piston () mechanically impacts the connecting element () such that the electrical connection between the first contact () and the second contact () is interrupted in at least one disconnecting location.
