Abstract
A method for producing a solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization includes bringing a magnesium compound, a tetravalent titanium halide compound, and an electron donor compound represented by a general formula (1) into contact with each other, reacting the mixture, washing the resulting reaction product to obtain a solid component, bringing the solid component, a tetravalent titanium halide compound, and an electron donor compound represented by a general formula (2) into contact with each other, reacting the mixture, and washing the resulting reaction product.(R)CH(COOR)(COOR)  (1)RRC(COOR)  (2)A polymer that exhibits high activity with respect to hydrogen, high stereoregularity, and high bulk density can be obtained using a catalyst including a solid catalyst component obtained by the method.
