A high-voltage positive electrode material for a lithium battery and a preparation method thereof are provided. The high-voltage positive electrode material for a lithium battery includes a material represented by the following formula (1):LiNiMnMgCrO  (1)wherein x>0, y>0, and 0<3x+2y≤0.1.
