Abstract
A shovel includes a first pumpL; a second pumpR; a hydraulic swing motor; a pump/motorA configured to generate an engine-assist torque in response to hydraulic oil from the hydraulic swing motorduring swing deceleration; an accumulatorconfigured to accumulate the hydraulic oil flowing out of the hydraulic swing motorduring swing deceleration; a regeneration valveG configured to switch open/close of transfer from a discharge portL to the pump/motorA and the accumulator; and a controller configured to control the regeneration valveG. During swing deceleration, the controller adjusts an open area of the regeneration valveG in such a way that a swing flowing-out pressure becomes a swing braking target pressure, and causes the hydraulic oil flowing out of the hydraulic swing motorto flow into the pump/motorA and the accumulatorat the same pressure.
