A stereo camera () for a vehicle includes a first camera (), which has a first image sensor () and the camera field of vision (S) of which has a first opening angle (α), and a second camera (), which has a second image sensor () and the camera field of vision (S) of which has a second opening angle (α). The second opening angle (α) is greater than the first opening angle (α). The first camera () has a first lens optical unit () and the second camera () has a second lens optical unit (), which both have an angular resolution that is higher in a central region (Z, Z) of the field of vision (S, S) lying in the angular range (α) around the optical axis (O) than outside of the central region. The cameras are arranged so that the fields of vision (S, S) overlap.
