Abstract

A surgical instrumentsuitable for sealing tissue includes a toolwith at least one branchcomprising an electrode unit, which consists of a sheet metal part. The partis anchored in a positive manner in a plastic body. Strip sections,of the metal partextend into the plastic body, encompassing openings,or slits,, through which the plastic bodyextends. A positive anchoring of the sheet metal partin the plastic bodyand minimizing of the heat introduction into the plastic bodyis thus attained. The thermal capacity of the sheet metal partand the thermal conductivity of the plastic bodyare low, so that consistently positive coagulation results are reached even after repeated use in short succession, regardless of the initial temperature of the tissue contact surfaces
