Abstract
Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for preparing a channel state information ('CSI') codeword. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver configured to communicatewith a transmit-receive point ('TRP') over a radio access network using spatial multiplexing, wherein multiple transmission layers are transmitted at a time, each transmission layer comprising multiple beams. The processor identifies a main beam for each of the multiple transmission layers and determines whether the main beams of each transmission layer are the same. The processor prepares a CSI codeword, wherein the CSI codeword comprises a first bit indicating whether the main beams of each transmission layer are the same, a first set of bits coding the main beams, and a second set of bits coding the remaining beams. The transceiver transmits the CSI codeword to the TRP.
