Abstract
In order to prevent air from being sucked into the separation chamber () of a counter-current type of centrifugal separator through the liquid outlet () thereof during the normal operation the separator a liquid trap in form of a well () is provided in the bottom of the separator housing (). An outlet conduit () opens into the lower part of the well (), wherein the well (), at least in its upper part, has a substantially larger cross-sectional area than that of the outlet conduit ().
