Abstract
An breathing or anesthesia apparatus and a process for operating a breathing or anesthesia apparatus are provided in which only a very low energy consumption occurs outside of the operating times. The breathing or anesthesia apparatus () is put into an energy-saving mode and a function pretest is performed before putting the apparatus into the energy-saving mode. A function self-test is carried out when the breathing or anesthesia apparatus is put into a standby mode.
