Abstract

Provided is a display device capable of satisfactorily reducing power consumption while suppressing display degradation due to flicker. When an input unit () of a host accepts a predetermined input operation performed by a user () during pause driving of a liquid crystal display device (), a check and adjustment process is started. In this check and adjustment process, a counter voltage that is applied to a common electrode of a display unit () changes from an optimum value (a value corresponding to a positive-negative balanced state) in accordance with the input operation performed by the user (). When the user () performs an 'OK' operation upon starting to perceive flicker during this course of change in the counter voltage, a flicker check unit () calculates flicker sensitivity from an amount of change ΔVcom in counter voltage at that time, and a driving adjustment unit () adjusts a refresh rate and display brightness in the display unit () based on this flicker sensitivity via a driving control unit () and the like.
