Abstract

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed in a radio access node () for handling a wireless device () in a wireless communication network (), which radio access node serves a cell () in the wireless communication network (). The radio access node (): —receives () a paging request for the wireless device () from a network node (), which paging request comprises an indication, which indication indicates that the paging request is associated with a function relating to the wireless device (), which function requires no connection between the wireless device () and the radio access node () to be set up; —pages () the wireless device in the cell () with a page message; —receives () a response from the wireless device () in response to the page message; and —rejects () a connection establishment or releases () a connection, from the wireless device () to the radio access node (), based on the indication in the received paging request and/or an indication in the received response indicating that no connection establishment is necessary.
