Abstract
A recoil starter () includes a pull rope reel (), a ratchet wheel (), a pulley (), a ratchet pawl (), and an outer wall (). The ratchet pawl () is capable of swinging between an engaged position where the ratchet pawl engages with a protruding part () and a disengaged position where the ratchet pawl does not engage with the protruding part, and is always urged toward the engaged position. A support surface () of the outer wall () supports the base end portion of the ratchet pawl () when the ratchet pawl () is in the engaged position. The internal space of the pulley () and the external space of the pulley () are communicate with each other through the foreign matter discharge portion () of the outer wall ().
